Here's a simple, classic way to cook Spaghetti Bolognese:
🍝 Ingredients (serves 4):
-
400g (14 oz) spaghetti
-
2 tbsp olive oil
-
1 onion, finely chopped
-
2 garlic cloves, minced
-
1 carrot, finely chopped
-
1 celery stick, finely chopped (optional)
-
500g (1 lb) ground beef
-
2 tbsp tomato paste
-
1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes
-
1 tsp dried oregano or Italian herbs
-
Salt & pepper to taste
-
Grated Parmesan (optional)
🍳 Instructions:
-
Cook the pasta
-
Bring a pot of salted water to a boil, add spaghetti, and cook until al dente (usually 8–10 minutes). Drain and set aside.
-
-
Make the sauce
-
Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat.
-
Add onion, garlic, carrot (and celery if using). Sauté for 5–7 minutes until softened.
-
Add ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned (about 5–8 minutes).
-
Stir in tomato paste, then add crushed tomatoes and herbs.
-
Season with salt and pepper.
-
Simmer on low for 15–30 minutes, stirring occasionally (longer = richer flavor).
-
-
Combine and serve
-
Toss spaghetti with the sauce or serve the sauce on top.
-
Garnish with Parmesan and fresh herbs if desired.
