How to Track a Stolen or Lost Android Phone

If you have misplaced your phone, the first thing to do is to dial your number using another phone. If your phone is on silent or someone picked it up and is refusing to give it back, here are a few steps you can take to track your lost or stolen android phone. 

  1. Open google chrome on your laptop or another phone 

  1. Sign into the gmail account on the lost phone 

  1. Then visit Google Android Device ManagerAndroid Device Manager

  2. On the Device Manager page select the android device you want to track 

  3. If you called the phone and it was on silent, click “Play Sound” on the Device Manager page to make the phone ring even if it is on silent. 

  4. You can also track the physical location of the phone on the Device Manager page, this requires your phone location settings to be turned on. 

  1. In the event of a stolen phone, and you are not sure of getting it back, you can protect your sensitive information stored on the phone using the “Enable Secure and Erase” feature on the Device Manager Page. 

Note: Android Device Manager can only access your phone when it is connected to the internet. 

In conclusion, prevention is better than cure, ensure to keep your phone safe and secure at all times, especially when you are in a public place or on the road. Ensure to also login your gmail account on your android device and keep the login details safe, incase you need to find it using the Android Device Manager.
